‘So come with me where dreams are born and time is never planned. Just think happy things and your heart will fly on wings forever in Never-Never Land’
- Peter Pan

Born in the late great summer of nineteen eighty something Spike Dennis displayed an aptitude for making and creating at a young age primarily through his love of playing with Duplo™ and Stickle Bricks. He spent several years floating around inside his own dreams imagining that he was roaming the mountain tops in the far north, chasing the Lunar Hare with a fish knife, before eventually giving up his preschool toys in exchange for some paints and brushes.

Spike trained at the prestigious Wimbledon School of Art in London where he was taught the deepest darkest secrets of the age old tradition that is Fine Art Painting. He later completed his Masters Degree in Fine Art following which he developed his purple tendencies, a lust for unicorn porn and a textiles based arts practice.

With a penchant for big hair, acrylic paint and peroxide Spike won’t be satiated until he has taken his distorted visions of the world around us to the furthest reaches of the universe.

Layla Holzer

Layla Holzer is fairy tale illustrator, paper cut maker, story creator and day dreamer.

Little Red Riding Hood alter-ego and wolf lover.

Over the hills and far away, in a place that lingers between the truth and the imaginary, do wolves, witches and wildness dwell between silver trees. A forest of dark enchantment, where inquisitiveness can lead to regret and the disobedient shall suffer.

Cautions to those curious children and poor parents who are short of moral values – heed my tales of admonishments!

I like to write and illustrate stories that echoe the woes and dismays that I see in society before weaving them into my fairy tale realm. Ultimately, I seek to inspire and encourage people to realise the mistakes of our world and adopt wiser moral judgement, through use of cautionary tales and uncanny punishment. I don’t mean to scare or upset but to awaken.

I mainly create my narratives through gouache paintings, paper cuts, puppets, shadows and pop-up books. I like to dip in and out of making 3D things but my work is mainly book based.

Illustrator: Marie-Louise Plum

Marie-Louise Plum is a British illustrator based in London.

Working freehand in pen and ink, Marie-Louise creates creepy characters and fantastical vignettes full of mischief and humour.
As well as good ol’ fashioned editorial illustration, Marie has worked on a varied range of projects including a large scale wall piece for Forest Hall in Edinburgh, custom made Moleskine design for Modofly and wooden puzzles (one of which even snuck its way in to the Victoria & Albert Museum, London).

2008 saw the incarnation of her contemporary spirit masks, resulting in interactive live art installations taking place in Edinburgh, London and South East England. Marie’s exhibition of interactive live art and illustration toured the UK in 2010.

Marie is currently touring circus themed exhibition, HAPPYLAND, a body of work which includes illustrations on paper as well as more unconventional objects.
